Body of madrasa student recovered after 22 days of admission

Police have recovered the hanging body of a student from Gandhina Jannatul Ferdous Madrasa in Tangail's Kalihati upazila Saturday night.

The deceased is Rakibul, 11, son of Badiuzzaman of Tenguria village of Kokdahra union in the upazila.

Rimi Begum, mother of the deceased, said that he was admitted to that madrasa 22 days ago. But after admission he came home alone several times. When asked, he used to say that the madrasa teacher used to beat him. So, he was forced to run away and come home.

“Even then I used to send my son to madrasa for religious education. Last Saturday morning I brought him back to the madrasa,” she added.

She also said on that afternoon, the madrasa teacher called Rakibul's father and asked him to go to the madrasa quickly. “Later, after we both went to the madrasa, he said our son committed suicide by hanging himself,” she added.

Sub Inspector (SI) Al Amin of Kalihati police station said that after getting the information, the hanging body was recovered from the madrasa and sent to Tangail General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The cause of death will be known after receiving the post-mortem report.
