As per Bengali tradition, preparations for the much-beloved celebration of Pahela Falgun, or 1st Falgun, the eleventh month of the year in the Bengali calendar associated with the onset of Spring in this part of the world.
The main program of Boshonto Utsob Udjapon (spring festival celebration) will be held at the renowned Bakultola at the Fine arts Faculty of Dhaka University.
Celebration programs have been scheduled to be held in two parts.
The first celebration program will start at Bakultola at 7am and will continue till the classes of Fine Arts Faculty start.
The second part of the celebration will start around 3pm after ending academic activities of Fine Arts faculty and in two other places.
Visiting Bakultola on Monday, workers were preparing the stage for celebrating Pahela Falgun.
Talking to a worker at Bakultola, he said that the preparation of the celebration is about to finish. “We hope we will be able to complete it within three to four hours.”
Talking to the general secretary of Bosonto Ustob Udjapon committee, Manzar Chowdhury Sweet told UNB that this celebration is a fair for the artists. Hundreds of teams of artists will participate in this festival which may create a problem in public transportation.
Asked about program schedules, he said: “The program will start at the fine arts faculty around 7 am with the performances of classical artists and Dipen Sarkar will perform Chaturangi. Then we will continue our celebration till 9am. The first segment of the celebration includes different cultural programs named Bosonto Boron, Abir Binimoy, Priti Bondhoni etc.”
“The second segment will start at all three venues at once at 3 pm. Three venues are Bakultola of Fine Arts Faculty, Muktamonch of Suhrawardy Uddyan and Rabindra Sorobor of Uttara. We have been trying to decentralize these programs to reduce public suffering and to bring some newness,” he added.
