The two-day long 9th Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF2023), powered by Star Cineplex, is set to begin on Saturday.
The film festival will bring together filmmakers from 25 countries to showcase their talents and creativity, said a press release.
A press conference was held in this regard on Thursday, reads the release.
With a total of 163 films submitted, 26 have been selected for exhibition in five categories: Open Doors, Short Film, ULAB Young Filmmaker Award, DIMFF Best Vertical Film, and MSJ Best Mojo.
The festival will be held at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) Research Building and Star Cineplex Shimanto Shambhar.
This year's theme is 'Bioscope' and the festival will be documented by Filmism, supported by wardrobe partner Blackistic, food partner Chow-man, festival partner MINA, media partner Dhaka Post, and public relation partner Brandsmith.
The title sponsor is Star Cineplex.
There are two jury boards for selecting and judging this year's films.
Short Film, Mojo Story and One-Minute categories have filmmaker Senjuti Subarna Tushi as Jury Chair and National Award Winner Rezwan Shahriar Sumit and Pakistani filmmaker Ayaz Khan as Jury Members.
Bangladeshi renowned film director Shimul Chandra Biswas is the Jury Chair for the Open Door and Vertical Film category and French-Turkish director Berat Gokkus and filmmaker Tasmiyah Afrin Mou are the Jury Members.
The festival Director Mohammad Sambitul Islam, Event Coordinator Ismam Rahim Karib, and Public Relations Manager Zannatin Tazrimin Rithi, were present at the press conference to give more insights into the festival.
DIMFF, which started in 2015 with the theme of 'New Generation, New Technology and New Communication', aims to encourage film making through mobile phones.
