A pharmacy in Noakhali has been fined for selling an injection drug worth Tk16 for Tk1,000.

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection slapped Japan Bangladesh Hospital Pharmacy with a fine of Tk40,000 during a raid on Monday.

Noakhali DNCRP Assistant Director Kausar Mia said: “A Barbit injection that costs Tk16 was sold to a customer by Japan Bangladesh Hospital Pharmacy for Tk1,000.”

“Barbit injection drugs come in packs of five which cost Tk80 each. A single piece costs only Tk16, but the customer was charged Tk1,000, which is virtually the same as robbery.”
