Thousands flock to Rajshahi rally venue to welcome PM Hasina

Thousands of people from different districts gathered in Rajshahi to welcome Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is scheduled to deliver a speech at a public rally in the city on Sunday.

Awami League leaders and activists were seen heading towards the venue since 9am, holding rallies and chanting slogans to receive the party chief.

One of the leaders at the venue said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given Rajshahi residents a lot, and hence they went to the venue to thank the premier.

Hasina Akhtar, a member of the Bangladesh Mohila Awami League, from Natore, said "We, the people of Rajshahi division, are grateful to the prime minister. Because the amount of development in Rajshahi and its surrounding districts in the last few years is unimaginable. We do not want anything else, we have come here to thank the prime minister.”

Meanwhile, all preparations for the rally have been completed, including the stage.

Rajshahi adopted a festive look with well-decorated streetlights, colourful festoons, and banners.

The ruling party will formally start its election campaign in the country's northern regions through this public rally.

This divisional district has long been known as the country's city of education because of its several famous educational institutions.

The current Rajshahi has almost every modern facility, as the current government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has spent hundreds of crores on various development works in the division.
