Bangladesh Awami League Presidium Member and Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton on Friday said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give directives to people from the mass rally.
The RCC mayor came up with the remark on Friday after visiting the madrasa ground where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will address a rally on Sunday.
He visited the rally venue along with Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information and Broadcasting Minister Hasan Mahmud.
Khairuzzaman Liton said: “People want to know the Awami League's strategy for creating a smart Bangladesh. Digital Bangladesh, as desired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has now been achieved. We are already enjoying the benefits. She (PM Hasina) now wants to work with young people to create a smart Bangladesh.”
He also said: "More emphasis has been given to the Rajshahi district, as well as the city, Natore, Naogaon, and Chapainawabganj, in this public rally. Awami League leaders and activists from other districts of Rajshahi division are welcome to attend if they want. We anticipate between five and seven lakh people.”
Being asked whether this rally is a part of an election campaign, the RCC mayor said that the year before the election is counted as an election year.
“When the election comes, people are excited about the election. Before this, the Prime Minister will give a directive speech to the people from the public meeting in Rajshahi,” said Liton.
