State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said that power will come to Bangladesh from the Adani power plant under construction in Jharkhand, India from next March.
He said this after inspecting the 1600MW (two units of 800MW) Adani Power Limited's power plant under construction in Jharkhand, India on Tuesday.
The state minister said: “750MW power from the first unit could be available by mid-March. More electricity is needed to meet next summer's demand. We are also looking for alternative sources of fuel. We are working on providing uninterrupted power supply at affordable prices.”
Under the agreement signed between the Power Division and Adani Power Limited, India on November 5, 2017, Adani Power Limited, India is constructing a 1600MW power plant in Jharkhand, India. Dedicated transmission lines have been constructed. Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) constructed two sub-stations and other transmission works at Chapainawabganj and Bogra in Bangladesh.
