A case has been filed against 271 leaders and activists of Lakshmipur unit Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir in connection with vandalism, and cocktail explosion.
The case was filed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Al-Amin of Lakshmipur Sadar model police station against 21 named and 250 unnamed individuals.
Among them, two people have been arrested so far, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mosleh Uddin said on Sunday.
The arrestees are Sohail and Maulana Ismail, reports Bangla Tribune.
According to the case statement, the accused in the case gathered on Piyarpur bridge early on Saturday and exploded cocktails. They also vandalized several vehicles at that time. The explosion also damaged the bridge, which is a state property.
Later, they escaped from the spot as soon as they realized the presence of police.
