The ferry and launch services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route have been suspended early on Sunday due to dense fog.
Several hundred vehicles were reportedly stuck on both sides of Padma River due to the suspension of the ferry services since 6:30am, said BIWTC's Daulatdia terminal manager (trade) Md Salahuddin.
Ferries and launch services were suspended to avoid accidents due to poor visibility, he said.
At present, 13 small and big ferries are plying this waterway.
According to BIWTC Paturia terminal office sources, three ferries with passengers and vehicles had to anchor in the middle of the river due to poor visibility.
Once the density of fog subsides, the ferry service on the Daulatdia-Paturia route will resume again, the sources informed.
