A Dhaka court on Sunday placed seven people including Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal President Sultan Salahuddin Tuku and Vice President Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan on four-day remand in a case filed with Paltan police station in the capital.
The other remanded accused are Mokles Mia, Mosharraf Hossain Khokon, Judge Mia, Farid Uddin Mana and Abdullah.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin sentenced them after police brought them to the court seeking seven-day remand for each.
On May 26, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station Md Kamrul Hasan filed the case as plaintiff naming 30 people including BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Around 100/150 unknown accused were made in the case.
The case stated that the accused took out an illegal procession and went out on the streets with riots, wooden torches and bamboo sticks. They gave various provocative statements and insulting slogans against the government. At that time, the accused vandalized and attacked the police. A police constable and Ansar member were injured.
On the other hand, the district Jubo Dal held a protest march and rally in Bhola to protest against the arrest of Jubo Dal President Sultan Salauddin Tuku and Vice President Mohammad Nurul Islam Nayan from Dhaka's Aminbazar area on their way back from the BNP rally in Rajshahi.
On Sunday afternoon, the protest march started from the district Jubo Dal office, went around the main streets of the city to the district BNP office.
