Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina addressed the crowd at 3:15pm at Shamsul Huda Stadium in Jessore during the Awami League rally on Thursday.
She reached the venue at 2:40pm.
Awami League leaders welcomed her warmly on the stage of rally organized by Jessore district Awami League.
The prime minister has started delivering her speech as chief guest.
Awami League president and consecutive three terms prime minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina sought vote from the people of Jessore to win the national parliament election.
She made this request while delivering speech in the very first political rally of Awami League following the Covid-19 surge.
“Raise your hand and say you will again vote for boat to keep Awami League in power,” said PM Sheikh Hasina.
She also thanked the people of Jessore for their support in the previous elections.
PM Hasina also mentioned the development projects and initiatives her government has taken in the ongoing three terms.
“When BNP was in power that time our GDP was $300 while now our GDP is $2,824,” she added.
“We have made the country reserve $48 billion from $5 billion. Last time when we took power following the caretaker government, the reserve was only $5 billion,” said the prime minister.
The government also invested $8 billion from the reserve for the betterment of the people in various domestic sectors, added the premier.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Thursday made the Jessore crowd crazy with his infamous dialogue “khela hobe” (game is on) while delivering speech in the mammoth rally of Jessore district Awami League.
When Quader said “khela hobe” with a smiling face the whole crowd inside the Shamsul Huda Stadium roared with claps and chanted the slogan with the Awami League general secretary.
Quader said: “We will play against BNP-Jamaat. We will play against all betrayers.”
Besides, Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP said: “We are delighted that after the Covid-19 surge in Bangladesh, the premier started the political rally from Jessore today and it's a matter of pride for us.”
He spoke on the successful development projects during the AL rule in the country including Jessore University of Science and Technology, Jessore Medical College, Bhairab River dredging, Sheikh Hasina Software Technology Park, among others.
Thousands of supporters and activists of Awami League had already filled up the Shamsul Huda Stadium wearing colourful t-shirts and caps from the morning.
District Awami League President Sahidul Islam Milon is presiding over the program while Awami League central leader Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, local MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed, among others, are present on the boat shaped stage.
Shahin Chalkadar MP, general secretary of district Awami League, is conducting the program.
Pinning upon the arrival of the premier, Jessore has now turned into a festive town while people of all strata as well as leaders and activists of AL have been enthusiastic.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached Jessore on Thursday morning on a day-long visit to attend a number of programs.
Through the public rally in Jessore, campaign of AL chief Sheikh Hasina across the country will begin. After that, she will address as the chief guest a party rally on December 4 at Polo Ground in Chittagong and on December 7 at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium in Cox's Bazar. In these public meetings, the party president will give new messages to the people as well as AL leaders and activists.
Leaders of Jessore district Awami League said that there is a target of gathering one million people at the public meeting. Awami League leaders and activists from 10 districts of Khulna division including all upazilas of Jessore and adjacent districts will participate in the public meeting.
