Around six hundred workers of two ready-made garment factories are staging protests blocking two roads in the Shah Amanat Bridge area under Bakalia thana of the port city since Thursday morning demanding their due salary for five months.
They blocked Marine Drive road and Notun Chaktai road of the city, creating huge traffic congestion on the roads.
Fatema Akhter, a worker of a factory of Dips Apparel of Bakalia area, said that there are two RMG factories of the apparel. They did not get salary for the last five months.
They came to the factory in the morning and found that the two factories were closed, she added.
“We are protesting against the closure of the two factories without any advance announcement and demanding the salary of the workers,” she added.

Protesting the closure of the factories, now the workers are protesting by blocking the road, said the ASP.
