Nora Fatehi finally gets permission to come to Bangladesh

After months of speculation and controversy, Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi has been finally granted permission to come to Bangladesh. However, not to grace the stage with her dance or not to give awards, but to shoot a documentary.

A letter, published by the Ministry of Information on Monday, contained the permission for the arrival of the Canadian-born Indian actor.

The documentary, titled “Women Empowerment in Bangladesh”, will be produced under the initiaive of Women Leadership Corporation. In addition, she will be able to stay in Dhaka on November 18 only for shooting.

The letter, signed by Mohammad Saiful Islam, deputy secretary of the Information Ministry, clearly stated that Nora Fatehi will not be able to participate in any other program or event outside of this shooting.

Not only that, the documentary has to be reviewed by the Bangladesh Film Censor Board before releasing it.

It also said that any action taken by the government will be final if the conditions are violated by the organizers.

Israt Jahan Maria, president of Women Leadership Corporation, said: “Many attempts were taken to bring Nora Fatehi here. Finally, it is happening. There are no more complications with her visit to Bangladesh.”

However, she did not say whether Nora would actually come to Dhaka to shoot the documentary or would participate in the pre-planned “Women Entrepreneurship Award” ceremony.

Earlier, in September, the Ministry of Culture rejected permission for Nora Fatehi's scheduled arrival in Dhaka in mid-December to perform at an award ceremony.

Apparently, she was denied permission following the ministry's decision due to the dollar crisis.

Nora is a notable dancer in Bollywood known especially for dancing to songs like “Saki Saki”, “Dilbar”.

Nora also garnered attention after appearing as the item song artist in several Bollywood films like "Baahubali: The Beginning", "Kick 2", "Sher", "Loafer", "Satyameva Jayate", "Stree", "Bharat", "Batla House".
