Jatiya Party relieves Ranga from chief whip post

The Jatiya Party (JaPa) on Friday expelled Mashiur Rahaman Ranga from the post of chief whip of the opposition in Parliament.

A press release signed by Deputy Office Secretary of the party Mahmud Alam said that according to the party constitution, party chairman GM Quader took the decision.

Earlier, the party had relieved Ranga from all party posts, including that of the presidium member.

Ranga on October 23, at a discussion meeting organized at the National Press Club said that he would not do JaPa politics under the leadership of GM Quader.

The JP faced an organizational crisis when Raushan Ershad convened party's 10th conference in Dhaka for November 26, without taking consent of party chairman GM Quader.

A day later, Jatiya Party Parliamentary Party wrote to Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury requesting her to make Quader the leader of the opposition, dropping Raushon.
