Massive public awareness, regular training for drivers and necessary infrastructure are the prime prerequisites for preventing road accidents, experts said on Saturday.
There is no alternative to raising awareness among the public in general to prevent road accidents which is a matter of grave concern, they added.
Officials and other stakeholders voiced similar opinion at rallies and discussions in different districts marking the National Road Safety Day-2022 Saturday.

The discussants unequivocally called for strict enforcement of traffic rules to reduce road accidents.
If the drivers drive their vehicles carefully the existing number of road accidents could be reduced to a greater extent, they said, reported BSS.

In Gazipur, police distributed flowers and leaflets to raise awareness among people marking the National Road Safety Day. Gazipur Metropolitan Police carried out the program on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in the morning.
In Tangail, the day was observed through different programs.
The district administration and BRTA brought out a rally in the city’s Ashekpur area. The rally toured through various roads of the city and ended with a discussion.
