The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court ordered the suspension of the appointment of 477 primary teachers in different districts of the country after detecting fraudulency.
The Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Faiz Siddique passed the order on Monday after hearing the appeal filed against the High Court verdict.
Attorney General AM Amin Uddin was in the hearing for the state in the court.
It is mentionable, on December 1, 2016, nearly 4,825 schools were nationalized to ensure quality education. A search committee was formed to determine the qualifications of teachers. These 477 teachers of Mymensingh, Kishoreganj, Rangpur, Jamalpur, Narail and Kushtia resorted to fraud to declare themselves qualified.
Among them, 26 teachers claimed that they were appointed on July 7, 2016. However, the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday was from 1st to 9th July that year, an official document said.
Not only that, the court also noticed that the signatures of 477 teachers in a document given to the High Court were done by a single person.
Thus, the Appellate Division led by the chief justice were surprised after seeing these documents during the hearing.
Meanwhile, many of the teachers were seen to leave the courtroom quickly after the document presented to the Appellate Division revealed the fraud.
Later, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin told reporters that the judge, Salma Masud Chowdhury, who gave the verdict despite seeing so many fake documents, has already lost her judicial power.
Two judges of that bench gave verdicts in 2018 to appoint these 477 teachers in seven cases. However, the Appellate Division has ordered a suspension of their appointment for the time being.
