Nasrul: Grid automation a time-befitting demand

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Tuesday said grid automation is a time-befitting demand as it will adjust the demand and supply of electricity automatically.

“Connection between information technology and smart devices will ensure the safety of the power transmission management,” he said, while addressing a workshop at Bidyut Bhaban as the chief guest.

Nasrul Hamid said it is necessary to make the manpower efficient along with technology for transforming the power system from a conventional grid to a smart grid.

“Electric vehicles are eco-friendly and cost-effective,” he said, adding that Bangladesh has already prepared a policy related to charging guidelines.

The state minister said there must be an integrated planning for power sector infrastructure development.

“Many achievements can be foiled due to lack of coordination,” he said.

Two separate context papers on smart grid, electric vehicles and global context were presented to the workshop.

Besides, smart grid, cyber attack prevention system, digitization, automation as well as technology based clean energy and electric vehicles were discussed at the workshop.

Huawei and the Power Cell of the ministry jointly organized the workshop titled “Together for a Smart and Green Bangladesh”.

Power Secretary Md Habibur Rahman and Pan Junfeng, CEO of Huawei Technologies, Bangladesh, spoke at the workshop.
