Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Thursday said that Bangladesh has done a commendable job in tackling Covid-19 and in carrying out vaccination programs.
Till now, 310 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered, said the minister.
“Recently, in a campaign, 11.5 million vaccine shots have been given. We hope that we will be able to give 15 million jabs in the extended time,” he said.
The minister said: “We also hope that no vaccine will expire”.
The six-day special vaccination campaign began on September 28, marking the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Later, the government on Monday decided to extend the ongoing Covid-19 special vaccination drive by three days aiming to administer the first and second doses to the unvaccinated people.
Professor Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), on Monday said that the mass vaccination campaign will run on Tuesday, Thursday and next Saturday.
After October 8, administering the first jab of Covid-19 vaccine will be stopped, he added.
