A total of eight people, including six policemen are scheduled to testify against Mamunul Haque, the former joint secretary general of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, in a rape case filed last year.
The testimonies will be taken at Narayanganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Nazmul Haque Shyamal's court on Monday, reports Bangla Tribune.
The witnesses are - SI Arif Howladar, Borhan, Jobaid Hossain, Nurul Islam, Inspector Saiduzzaman, and SI Yaur Rahman of Sonargaon police station.
Besides, two more witnesses were absent on the earlier date. they are Parvez and Mehedi Hasan.
Mamunul’s lawyer Omar Faruk Nayan said the testimony is scheduled to be held at around 12pm.
Meanwhile, Narayanganj Court Police Inspector Asaduzzaman Mamunul Haque arrived at the court at 8:30am under tight security.
On April 3, 2021, Mamunul Haque was held by Awami League activists for staying with an unknown woman at Sonargaon Royal Resort in Narayanganj.
Later, activists and supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam came and vandalized the resort and took him away.
On April 30, the woman filed a rape case against Mamunul Haque at Sonargaon police station.
However, Mamunul Haque later claimed that the woman is his second wife.
