GM Quader’s stolen phone recovered after 8 days

Police recovered Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader’s cell phone eight days after it was snatched near Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in Dhaka.

The stolen iPhone was found from Kawran Bazar by officers from Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Uttara Division, reports Bangla Tribune.

Meanwhile, five robbers were arrested over the incident. They are - Md Azizul, 21, Md Aziz, 19, Md Ismail, 24, Md Sanaullah, 32, and Subal Chandra Ghosh, 32. 

Among them, Azizul and Aziz were arrested from the airport area on Wednesday morning.

Police handed over the phone to GM Quader at his residence in Uttara on Thursday afternoon.

GM Quader expressed his gratitude after getting the mobile phone back. 

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Uttara Division of Police Taposh Kumar told Bangla Tribune that they managed to detain two robbers on August 31, when the Jatiya Party leader’s phone was snatched.

“We were able to locate the phone later in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar area,” he added.

The mobile phone was traded four times before it was recovered.

At first, the Tk100,000 phone was sold by Azizul to Ismail for Tk18,000. Later, Ismail sold the phone at Tk23,000 to Shubal.

The duo was later arrested from Bashundhara City later in the day.

Meanwhile, Airport police station Officer-in-charge (OC) BM Forman Ali said a case was filed in this regard. The arrestees were sent to court.

Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader's mobile was snatched on September 3.

Md Toyob, assistant personal secretary of GM Quader, filed a case with the Airport police station in this regard the next day.
