Md Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, secretary at the Security Services Division of the Home Ministry, has said that the firefighters must look after their safety so that they can come of help whenever the people are in danger.
He expressed satisfaction on the preparedness of the firefighters in dealing with calamities after visiting the Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters in the capital Thursday, said a press release.
He was welcomed there by the division’s Director General (DG) Brig Gen Md Main Uddin and given a guard of honour.
He said: “You work as members of a force that responds first whenever the country or the people are in danger. You must be cautious about your safety because you won’t be able to assist others if you are in danger.”
The DG briefed the secretary on the functions of different departments within the division and the different wing chiefs enlightened the secretary on the functions of their wings.
Md Abdullah then inspected the vehicles used by firefighters and all their equipment on the premises.
