CCC evicts over 50 illegal establishments in Chittagong

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) in a drive on Wednesday evicted over 50 unauthorized shops built on both the roadside of the city's different areas.

"We filed 18 cases and evicted over 50 makeshift unauthorized establishments for building both the side of city's GEC intersection, Bahaddarhat, Asian highway, and Dewanhat area, occupying footpath," said CCC Magistrate Marufa Begum Neli.

Marufa Begum conducted the five-hour-long drives from 10am in cooperation with police and senior officials of the conservancy unite of CCC.

The mobile court also realized Tk72,000 as fine from them and filed case against 18 individuals.

City Mayor's Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem and Regional Executive Officer Junaid Kabir Sohag also participated in the drive.

In separate drives, CCC Special Magistrate Monisha Mohazon realized fine of Tk15,000 from four building owners for keeping materials occupying footpath in city's Dewanhat and Kadamtali areas on Wednesday.
