Left Democratic Alliance calls half-day hartal Thursday

The leaders of the Left Democratic Alliance has announced a half-day hartal on Thursday from 6am to 12pm over recent price hike.

The party Coordinator Ruhin Hossain Prince made the call at a press conference on Wednesday.

He said: "People all over the country are living miserable lives. We are in the midst of a series of struggles and have called for a hartal in protest. People across the country have expressed their support for our cause.”

Hospitals, emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire services, vehicles carrying dead bodies, media vehicles, drug stores, and food hotels will be exempted from the hartal.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh NAP extended their support to the hartal.

In a statement on Wednesday, the party's Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani and secretary general M Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan said that the prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol, octane and urea fertilizers have increased abnormally due to the price hike in essential commodities and transportation.

At present, the prices of essential commodities are making people's lives miserable as the market price has nothing to do with people's income, they said.
