A former deputy general manager of Bangladesh Bank was crushed under the wheels of a train at Khilgaon level crossing in the capital on Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Fakhrul Islam, 59, said Md Riaz Mahmud, sub-inspector (SI) of Dhaka railway police station.
Intercity express train “Sundarban Express” knocked down Fakhrul as he was walking on the rail tracks around 8:30am, leaving him dead on the spot, the SI added.
According to police, after recovering his body, it was sent for an autopsy.
Fakhrul used to live in the Wari area with his family.
