The installation of the railway track on Padma Bridge’s Zajira point began on Saturday.
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the works on the bridge at around 12pm, reports Bangla Tribune.
The railway minister said the work of the project is expected to be completed within the next four months.
“So far, 66% of the project’s Dhaka-Mawa part, 85% of Mawa-Bhanga and 52% of Bhanga-Jessore sections are completed,” he added.
Bangla TribuneIn addition, 68% of the financial progress of the project has been made, while 70% of the physical work has been completed, he told reporters.
On June 15, the minister said the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project is one of the ten top-priority projects of the government.
The project has been divided into three parts for timely implementation.
The cost of the 169km railway track from Dhaka to Jessore is around Tk39,247 crore.
The project is scheduled to be completed by June 2024.
