At least 10 fishermen went missing after another trawler sank in the Bay of Bengal on Friday.
The incident was reported from Cox’s Bazar’s Sonadia Island at around 4:30pm, said the trawler’s owner Jamal Hossain.
“The trawler was carrying 18 fishermen. The vessel, ‘FB-Mayer Doa’ got caught in a storm near Nazirartek channel and sank,” he added.
So far, eight fishermen have been rescued by Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG), he further mentioned.
BCG Cox's Bazar station said they are trying to rescue the other missing fishermen.
Meanwhile, two fishermen died after a trawler capsized near Noakhali’s Hatia upazila at around 10am.
The deceased were identified as Main Uddin and Md Raful.
As many as 12 fishermen have been rescued while two others --- Md Belal and Md Sharif--- were reported missing.
