Police on Friday recovered the hanging body of a student of Rajshahi University (RU) from a residence in the district’s Binodpur area.
The body was found hanging from a window at around 11pm, reports Bangla Tribune.
The deceased has been identified as Rita Akhter, 21, a second-year student of the university’s Law and Justice Department.
Motihar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Ali Tuhin said Rita used to live in that house with her husband Rabbi. He is also a second-year student in the university’s Applied Mathematics Department.
“Rabbi informed us about the incident. He has been taken into custody for further questioning,” OC Tuhin added.
The body has been kept at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. A case will be filed in this regard, the officer further mentioned.
Law and Justice Department Prof Hasibul Alam Pradhan said: “It seems she committed suicide but we demand a fair investigation from the department.”
