Bangladesh puja celebration panel condemns injustices towards Hindus

Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad (puja celebration council) has condemned the injustices towards the Hindu community in the country.

Speakers at the divisional conference of the panel at Rangpur Town Hall on Friday said not a single case filed over attacks on Hindus had been disposed of, blaming random pressing of charges and faulty investigation by the police.

Jitendra Lal Bhowmik, president of the panel, attended the event as chief guest. Hundreds of local Hindu community leaders from 58 upazilas of eight districts of Rangpur division were also present.

Those at the event sought government intervention in the matter, saying that if the authorities had ensured punishment for those involved in earlier attacks, the recent mayhem in Narail would not have taken place.

They also demanded the formation of a committee to probe into the negligence of the local administration in Narail.
