Directions issued for inoculation of schoolchildren aged 5-11

The government has taken the decision to inoculate students aged 5-11 against Covid-19 and issued some directions in this regard.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education issued the order on Thursday.

In the office order signed by Director General Prof Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, in charge of the routine duties of the directorate, all regional directors, deputy directors, principals, public and private college district education officers, and head teachers have been asked to take necessary measures.

According to the instructions, students of the aforementioned age group must register through the Surokkha app or website.

The birth registration number of students must be 17 digits. Students who do not have a 17-digit birth registration number must get one. Guardians and heads of the concerned institutions have to ensure it.

Registration through the app or website is not mandatory for children with special needs.

Students with foreign passports, before registering through the Surokkha app or website, have to send their information through their education institutions to student.dshe.vaccination@gmail.com.

Every institution has to conduct necessary campaigns to ensure immunization of students and inform the parents concerned regularly about these activities.

Each institution has to engage a required number of Scouts, Girl Guides, Rover Scouts, Girls in Rovers, Red Crescent and BNCC members as volunteers to carry out the immunization program in an orderly manner. In the institutions which do not have such teams, the required number of volunteers will be ensured with their own students.

Each institution has to assign the required number of teachers for smooth running of the program.

Students should ensure attendance at the vaccine centres as per the schedule.

The heads of institutions have to maintain contact with the government office concerned for necessary instructions or advice on immunization activities.

The children would be given the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, Health Minister Zahid Maleque earlier said.
