Over 24,700 Freedom Fighters to get smart cards

As many as 24,761 freedom fighters from 17 districts will receive the Freedom Fighter smart ID card.

Additionally, 46, 803 freedom fighters will be getting digital certificates,  Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque announced during an event on Thursday (July 28).

The cards are expected to help Freedom Fighters avoid any hassle in availing their government announced facilities.

The Minister officially inaugurated the 'Digital Certificate and Smart ID Card Distribution among the Freedom Fighters' program in the conference room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

The minister said that the printing work for the cards in 17 districts has been completed, and added: “Printing of cards and certificates for the rest of the districts will be finished within the next one and a half months.”

The ID cards and digital certificates will be distributed district-wise.

In his welcome speech, Khaja Miah, secretary of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, said that in rural areas, the ID cards and certificates will be distributed by Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs’) while Deputy Commissioners (DCs’) will distribute them in metropolitan areas.

“The ID cards and certificates will have to be distributed checking the consolidated list published on the Ministry’s website (www.molwa.gov.bd). Cards and certificates can’t be provided to those whose names have not been listed. Those freedom fighters who’ve already died will receive only digital certificates, not cards,” he said.
