Ministry: 6 months of oil imports secured, 8 more shipments arriving in August

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Wednesday claimed that a sufficient amount of oil is available in the depots under the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, while the process of importing oil for the next six months has been confirmed.

“As many as nine ships had brought oil in July while eight more ships will be coming in August,” said a press release issued by the Ministry.

According to the Ministry, till Wednesday, diesel stock was 4,31,835 metric tons. Daily average sales are 13,607 metric tons with 32 days in stock.

Similarly, Jet-A1 has a stock of 44 days and furnace oil has a stock of 32 days.

On the other hand, Bangladesh produces all the petrol. The country produces about 40% of octane, the release said.

Besides, 2,18,000 thousand metric tons of diesel in eight ships, 25,000 metric tons of Jet-A-1 in one ship, and 25,000 metric tons of octane in one ship will arrive in August.

Earlier on Wednesday, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) Chairman ABM Azad said that Bangladesh has enough stock of fuel right now and there is nothing to worry about at this point.

Around 50,000 tons of refined fuel oil will arrive at Patenga port in the next three days, he said, requesting people not to pay heed to rumours about the oil crisis.
