A total of five people were killed and 21 more were injured in separate road crashes across the country on Tuesday.
In Kushtia, three people were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Bheramara in Kushtia.
Besides, two more people were injured in the accident that took place near Hawakhali field in Satbaria union of the upazila on Tuesday.
Bheramara police sub-inspector (SI) Mohirul Islam confirmed the matter.
Two of the deceased were identified as Maruful Alam Pias, 28, of Narita area of Ishwardi in Pabna district; and Sajjad Hossain Sajib, 23, of Baria village in Mirpur upazila.
However, the identity of one more deceased could not be identified.
SI Mohirul said two motorcycles collided head-on near Satbaria Hawakhali ground on Tuesday afternoon.
“Later, the locals rescued them and first took them to Bheramara Upazila Health Complex. When the condition deteriorated there, they were taken to Kushtia General Hospital, where they later died,” he added.
The driver of a lorry was killed and six passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and an oil lorry on the Dhaka-Barisal highway.
The deceased was identified as Moktar Mollah, 50, of Moksedpur area in Gopalganj district.
The accident took place at the Northern end of the bridge adjacent to the Turkee market around 6:45am on Tuesday.
Sheikh Mohammad Belal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Gournadi Highway police station, confirmed the matter.
In Comilla’s Manoharganj upazila, a youth died after his motorcycle lost control and hit a roadside tube well.
The deceased was identified as Sourav Hossain, 25, son of Sirajul Haque of Hajipura village under Jhalam union of the upazila.
Locals rescued him and rushed to the hospital.
However, the doctors declared him dead, said Manoharganj police Inspector (Investigation) Tapan Kumar Bagchi.
In Faridpur, at least 13 people were injured in a head-on collision between two buses.
The accident took place on the Faridpur bypass of the Dhaka-Barisal highway in the Piarpur area of Kaijuri union in Faridpur sadar around 1pm on Tuesday.
Confirming the matter, sub-inspector (SI) of Faridpur Kotwali police station, said they have been admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.
