A total of six people were killed in a collision between a bus and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway on Monday night.
At least seven others were injured in the incident that took place in Bayar Dighi area of Patiya upazila around 8:15pm, said Patiya Highway police Officer-in-Charge Mozaffar Hossain.
He said: “A Chittagong-bound bus crushed the Patiya-bound autorickshaw from behind. Later, both the vehicles fell on the side of the highway.”
In the collision, five passengers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot while eight others were injured.
The injured were admitted to the Patiya Upazila Health Complex. Later, one of them died at around 9pm.
Of the current seven injured, three were rushed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition and the rest were released after receiving first aid, said police.
The deceased could not be identified immediately.
