Padma Bridge North police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain said a few bikers parked near the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway police station this afternoon to protest. “Later, the police went there and removed them.”

Earlier, two people were killed in a motorcycle accident on June 26, the first day the bridge was opened to the public.

Since then, the two-wheeler was banned by the government to stop plying on the bridge until further notice.

Following the move, bikers have been protesting the decision and resorted to crossing the bridge carrying the vehicles on pickup vans.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury on Tuesday said the decision to allow motorcycles on the Padma Bridge will be taken after the installation of CCTV cameras and speed guns.
