Chittagong Port has made a new record by handling over 3.2 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of containers during the fiscal year 2021-22.
According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) data, a total of 3,255,358 TEUs of containers were handled through the country’s prime seaport during the fiscal year 2021-22.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Port has also handled 30,97,236 TEUs of containers during the same time.
CPA Secretary Omar Faruk told BSS that Chittagong port has also handled 11,81,74,160 tons of cargo goods in the outgoing fiscal through 4231 ships.
Chittagong Custom House has collected revenue of Tk59,256 crore in the fiscal year 2021-22 against the target Tk 64,065 crore.
A total of Tk51,057 crore was collected by Chittagong Custom House in the previous financial year, the sources noted.
