Authorities on Monday banned pick-ups carrying motorcycles from crossing the Padma Bridge.
Motorcyclists, unable to cross the bridge due to the recent ban, resorted to crossing the bridge through pick-up vans with their vehicles.
They complained that since ferry services have been suspended, they could not cross the Padma River any other way.
Responding to queries on the matter, Bangladesh Bridge Authority Supervising Engineer Tofazzal Hossain said that the new ban was imposed as many were getting down from pick-ups after the check-post and using their bikes to cross the rest of the bridge.

He said that since motorcycles have been banned, allowing this is also against the rules.
However, any commercial consignment of motorcycles will be allowed to pass through, he said.
On Sunday, following the deaths of two motorcyclists on the newly inaugurated bridge, the government banned motorcycles on the bridge until further notice.
On Monday, motorcyclists blocked the toll plaza, protesting the decision.
