The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday said unscrewing nuts and bolts of the Padma Bridge is not possible without using tools.
“These cannot be done with hands only. The TikToker arrested for unscrewing the nuts and bolts have used tools,” a CID spokesperson Superintendent Rezaul Masud told the media on Monday.
"The Padma Bridge is the biggest project in Bangladesh. His actions could have caused any big accident," he said adding that had anything happened on the bridge when he took off the screw, he should have informed the police.
TikToker Bayezid Talha was arrested on Sunday after a video of him unscrewing a nut and bolt of the Padma Bridge went viral on social media.
Later, a case was filed against him with Padma Bridge North Police Station under the Special Powers Act.
"He not only hurt the sentiments of people but also damaged the image of the country," said SP Rezaul..
"He has a guilty mind. It’s a crime," he added.
Saying that police have information on another person being involved with the matter, he added: "Maybe other involvements will be found. It cannot be said yet."
The video came under CID monitoring within an hour of getting viral. "We are continuously monitoring these things."
The CID official further said that Bayezid's mobile phone has been seized but all information cannot be disclosed in public.
"He might have a political identity but we are focusing on the crime now," he said.
