In the budget for the 2022-2023 fiscal year, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal proposed to impose 7.5% value added tax (VAT) on meditation services.
The proposal was made by him while presenting the budget in parliament on Thursday.
Previously, on other budgets VAT was inflicted on meditation services, citing their benefits on mental health and well being.
The minister placed a Tk6,78,064 crore budget for the upcoming fiscal year this afternoon.
This is the fourth budget of the third consecutive term of the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also the overall 51st budget of the country.
