Law enforcement agencies have received an increased allotment in the proposed budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year as the Public Security Division and the Security Services Division jointly got Tk28,781 crore.
In the previous fiscal year, the total revised allotment for the Public Security Division and Security Services Division was Tk26,928 crore.
The allocation for these two divisions has increased by around Tk1,853 crore in the upcoming year.
According to the proposed budget placed by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal in parliament on Thursday, the Public Security Division under the Home Ministry, which includes all law enforcement agencies, will receive Tk24,594 crore, compared to Tk23,259 crore in the revised budget of the last fiscal year.
On the other hand, the allocation for the Security Services Division has been proposed at Tk4,187 crore, as opposed to Tk3,669 crore in the previous fiscal year’s revised budget.
The Public Security Division and the Security Services Division were formed in 2017 after dividing the Ministry of Home Affairs.
