At least six people were killed and two injured in separate road crashes in Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Tangail on Sunday.
In Rajshahi, four, including a child and her mother, were killed in a road accident in Paba upazila.
The deceased are Bithi, 33, Maryam Jannat, 4, Abdul Mannan, 48, and Akhter Hossain, 35.
According to witnesses, two motorcycles collided with a tractor on the Rajshahi-Naogaon highway around 10:30am, killing Jannat and Mannan on the spot.
Abdul Mannan and Maryam died on the spot while her parents–Akhter and Bithi–,who were injured in the incident, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment.
Paba police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farid Hossain said: “The bodies were at the hospital morgue. After the autopsy, the body will be handed over to the family members.
“The driver left his tractor and fled after the accident. However, the tractor was later seized. Besides, two motorcycles involved in the accident have also been taken to the police station.”
Akhtar's brother has filed a case in the incident with Paba police.
In Dhaka, a truck ran over and killed a pedestrian, before falling into a ditch in the Turag area.
The deceased is Ambia Begum, 48. Her son Mohiuddin was severely injured in the accident.
The two were taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Ambia dead at 8:30am.
The driver of the truck had lost control of the vehicle, said Inspector Bacchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
The police station concerned had been informed of the matter, he added.
In Tangail, a pedestrian was killed after being hit by a pickup truck on the Tangail-Mymensingh highway in Ghatail upazila.
According to police and locals, Badal Mia, 45, was on his way home from the mosque after Fajr prayers when the accident occurred.
He had died on the spot, said Ghatail police station OC Azharul Islam Sarkar.
