Awami League Presidium Member Shajahan Khan on Tuesday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will fix the date for the inauguration of the much-anticipated Padma Bridge after the Eid vacation.
He said this while talking to journalists after offering Eid prayers at Madaripur municipality Eidgah.
Shajahan, also a member of parliament from the Madaripur 2 constituency, said Padma Bridge will be opened for vehicular movement on any day in June.
He hoped the people of 21 districts in the southern region of Bangladesh will be able to use Padma Bridge by next June. But it will not be possible to open rail operation on Padma Bridge during the inauguration, he mentioned.
Earlier, the Awami League leader joined the Eid congregation led by district Jame Mosque’s Imam Mawlana Ilias Habibullah at around 8am.
Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Pavelur Rahman Shafiq Khan, Madaripur Municipal Mayor Khalid Hossain Yad also joined the Eid jamaat.
