Tipu added that the list of the families had been prepared by the authorities at district, upazila and union levels, and the city corporations.

The minister said that the aim of the government was to provide essential items to the poor section of people at an affordable price during Ramadan so that they could get some relief and can celebrate the Eid-ul-Fitr with ease and comfort.

He hoped that some 50 million people would be benefitted once such products were provided to some 10 million families.

From the TCB trucks, a consumer will be able to take a maximum of 2kg sugar at Tk55 per kg, two litres of soybean oil at Tk110 per litre, 2kg lentil at Tk65 per kg and 2kg chickpea at Tk50 per kg.
