HSC results to be published Sunday

Results of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will be published on Sunday.

The Ministry of Education revealed this information on Thursday.

"The results of HSC, Alim, HSC vocational, Business Management and Diploma-in-Commerce exams results will be published on Sunday," Education Ministry Public Relations Officer M A Khair told UNB on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, Exams Controller SM Amirul Islam of the Dhaka Education Board told Bangla Tribune that the authorities intend to publish the results between February 12 and 14.

The results are likely to be announced at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka's Segunbagicha, like last year.  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the program via video conference from Ganabhaban, they said.

About 1.4 million students from 9,183 institutions took the HSC and equivalent exams, held between December 2 and 30, after a delay of nearly eight months due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The pandemic has prevented students from taking many in-person classes and the exams were adjusted accordingly.

This year’s HSC candidates were not tested on 12 subjects. The assessments consisted of six papers from the shortened syllabuses of three elective subjects.

Students got one and a half hours to finish the exams instead of the usual three.

Compulsory subjects, such as Bangla and English, have been assessed based on students’ performance in previous public exams.
