Law, Justice and Parliament Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Monday said a total of 654 cases remain pending against militants throughout the country.
The minister said this while responding to a star-marked question made by Treasury Bench Lawmaker M Mamunur Rashid Kiron of Noakhali-3 during a question-answer session which was tabled at the Jatiya Sangsad here with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
He said an anti-terrorism special tribunal has already been set up at the divisional level across the country with an aim to quick disposal of the cases filed against the militants.
The special tribunal has already been formed at Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and Rangpur divisions for speedy trial and disposal of the pending cases filed against the militants who were involved in the killing of unarmed and innocent people.
A total of 654 cases are remaining pending under the anti-terrorism special tribunal till May 31, 2023, the minister added.
