2 Bangladeshis shot dead in BSF firing in Lalmonirhat

Two Bangladeshis have been allegedly shot dead by members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Dolpara border in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat district.

The incident took place near main pillar number 888 of Dolapara border of Barakhata union of upazila at 11:45pm on Wednesday.

The deceased were identified as Monglu, 36, son of Abdus Samad and Sabbir Hossain Sadik, 22, son of Hafizul Islam of Dolpara village in the upazila.

Abdul Jalil, commanding officer of Dolpara BGB camp, said the BSF members opened fire on some Bangladeshi nationals, including Monglu and Sadik, who went to the border area to bring cattle.

They died at the scene, he said.

Two more people were injured as well. They are Abdul Gani, 35, and Azizul Islam, 40. 

Hatibandha police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shah Alam said, "The police have been sent to the spot. Legal actions will be taken in this regard after discussing with the higher authorities.”
