The government is planning to reduce office hours or introducing virtual office to save electricity, said State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain.
He made the remarks at the Secretariat on Monday soon after the Prime Minister’s Office issued several instructions on reducing use of electricity.
He said: “Government is mulling reducing office hour and introducing work from home in the backdrop of power crisis. The decision will be finalized within a week.”
“We’ll take decision considering the public sufferings,” he added.
A discussion is going on about it and suggestions came about reducing office hours from 9am to 3pm or 4pm, he said.
However, the decision has not been finalised yet, he concluded.
