Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, will be celebrated in the country on Tuesday as the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Sunday evening.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after reviewing reports.
The national mosque will hold five Eid jamaats with the first being held at 7am.
Islamic Foundation Bangladesh announced the schedule in a press release on Saturday.
The first Eid Jamaat will be followed by three more at the top of each hour till 10am. The last one will be at 10:45am.
Meanwhile, the first Eid Jamaat at the National Eidgah in Dhaka will commence at 8:30am. Around 35,000 devotees are expected to take part in the prayers this year.
Meanwhile, residents of Hajiganj Upazila of Chandpur and Patuakhali started celebrating Eid on Sunday in line with the celebration in Afghanistan, Niger and Mali.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will celebrate Eid on Monday as the crescent moon for Shawwal was not sighted on Saturday.
In Faridpur, residents of 13 villages under Boalmari and Alfadanga upazilas will celebrate Eid on Monday with Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries.
Since 1928, thousands of people of Katagor, Sahasrail, Shekhar, Chhoy Hajar, Maitkomra, Bhulbaria, Ganganandapur, Boroga, Kolimajhi, Rakhaltali, Barangkula, Surjok and Dori Sahasrail villages have been observing Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha with Saudi Arabia.
