Mercury dips to 8.3°C in Tetulia, days to become colder

The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 8.3°C in Tetulia of Panchagarh, with daytime temperatures throughout Bangladesh set to drop further, according to the met office.

Nighttime temperatures may rise by 1-2°C while day temperatures may fall slightly, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department said in its 9am bulletin on Saturday.

Besides, several parts of the country, including Dhaka division, are likely to see rainfall in the next 72 hours, it said.

The BMD has also forecast light to moderate fog from midnight to morning.

Meanwhile, biting cold and dense fog have made life miserable in the northern part of the country, especially Panchagarh.

The daily wage earners are suffering the most due to not getting enough work to put food on the table.

Moreover, the number of hospitalizations has increased with the surge in winter illnesses among children and the elderly.

Md Russel Shah, the person in charge of the Tetulia weather office, said the low temperature would likely remain unchanged in the next three-four days.
