Razzaque: No human rights violation in Bangladesh

Agriculture Minister Md Abdur Razzaque has said there are no instances of human rights violation in the country.

He was speaking to the reporter after meeting the outgoing US Ambassador Earl R Miller at the Secretariat on Sunday.

The minister said he told the US delegation that the human rights situation in the country was satisfactory.

“The US is emphasizing on the human rights situation in Bangladesh. They have lauded the government for successfully exterminating militancy from the country. In some places, law enforcers may have made some mistakes, for which 190 RAB officers have been punished.

“The ambassador will return to the US to discuss the issue with senior government officials. So, the ban is lifted quickly,” he said.

On the Narayanganj city elections, the minister said: “The polls were held in a peaceful manner.”

The agriculture minister said Bangladesh and the US have a long-standing relation in the field of agriculture. 

US Ambassador Earl R Miller said agricultural trade between the two countries increased a lot recently. 

He hoped that the cooperation in the agricultural sector would further increase in the upcoming days between Dhaka and Washington.
