Coronavirus: 32.53% of population fully vaccinated in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has been able to fully vaccinate 32.53% of its total population as of Thursday, according to World Health Organization (WHO) data.

A total of  85,187,677 people have received a single dose while 56,168,790 people have received both doses. Another 572,863 people have received booster doses.

The recipients of the first dose include 41,011,503 men and 41,041,427 women. Among those who have received both doses, 28,039,498 are men and 27,485,824 women. 

The latest breakdown of the recipients of booster doses was yet to be revealed. According to government statistics, 81,053 men and 42,780 women had received the booster dose as of Wednesday.

Two weeks ago, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said the government has set a target to vaccinate 40 million people each month from January 2022.

The health minister also said the government was aiming to administer 280 million Covid-19 vaccines, including booster doses. 

In Dhaka, a total of 8,148,839 first doses, 5,567,157 second doses and 28,158 third doses have been administered, so far.

A total of 97,440,55 first doses and  11,348,43 second doses had been administered to students as of Thursday.

Health authorities in Bangladesh reported 4,378 Covid-19 cases and six deaths on Friday, taking the death toll to 28,129 and caseload to 1,609,042.
